What is Enamel? "Simply
put, enamel is glass fused to metal using intense
heat to melt the glass particles. The enamel, which
now has the consistency of fine sand, is mixed with
a binding agent to help it adhere to the gold and is
put in place with a tiny brush and steel pic. After
dying, the jewelry is placed in a kiln which is
heated to 1600 degrees. Layer upon layer of enamel
is

applied and then fired. The jewelry is then hand
finished to the final polish. Enamel jewelry should
always be kept in a separate box."
